This year volunteers have the unique opportunity to attend the W-AFAC Conference, a blend of everyone’s favourite experiences from the WAFES Conference with the bonus of the national AFAC Conference and Exhibition. 

Details for the 2025 W-AFAC Conference are below. 

Dates: Tuesday 26 to Friday 29 August  

Venue: Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre 

Conference format:  

• Tuesday 26 August: (6pm to 8pm) AFAC Exhibition opening and welcome event  
• Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 August: AFAC Conference program and access to the exhibition hall 
• Friday 29 August: DFES volunteer tours during the day and WAFES Awards gala dinner  

Active DFES/Bush Fire Service volunteers as well as YES and ESCC instructors can either self-nominate or be nominated to attend. 

When completing a nomination please make sure you:

• only submit one nomination per volunteer, multiple submissions will not increase the chances of selection;  
• use title case for all fields (e.g. John Smith not john smith or JOHN SMITH); 
• complete mandatory fields marked with *; and 
• work through each page of the nomination process using the ‘next’ button until reaching the ‘summary’ page. 

As a large number of nominations are expected, offers to register for the W-AFAC Conference will be prioritised based on previous attendance at WAFES/AFAC Conferences and the WAFES Awards.  

All volunteers who are nominated will receive an email advising them of the outcome of their nomination, with those successful invited to register for the conference and/or awards.
